Personalized Services:
Our personalized services vary among the different Merck websites. These services may include some or all of the following:

A. Site User Registration

     1. Customization
    a. Some of our sites offer you an option to personalize and customize the features that we offer to you. You can create a personalized profile for these sites that will store and remember your customized selections. This capability can only be delivered if you register with the site. In order to retrieve your selections, you must either sign-in each time that you visit or choose the "Remember me" option described below.
    b. Registration for these sites requires that you provide a minimum of a user name and password. For security reasons, your password should be at least 6 characters in length. Your user name and passworddo not need to include your name and do not require that you submit any personally identifiable information.
    c. Other features of registration may ask for your personal preferences related to materials that we offer. This information is not required for registration, however, you may be asked to submit this information in order for us to process other requests as described below. Your selections will enable us to deliver customized content and features to you each time that you visit us online.
    d. We also ask for your name and address when you register in order to save you time in the future when you request a feature that requires us to send you something via postal mail. Occasionally, we may also use the mailing information and preferences that you provide to send additional information on items that we believe may interest you.

    2. Password-Protected Areas
Some features on our sites are password protected and require a user name and password that may be chosen by the user, or provided to the user by Merck. Password-protected areas also require an e-mail address. At the time you register, we will send confirmation of your password. Your password is not accessible to others. If you forget your password, we will send it to you by e-mail. Users of password-protected areas for healthcare professionals may obtain a forgotten password by contacting their Merck representative.

    3. "Remember me" option
For your protection, this option is recommended only for individuals who do not share a computer with someone else.
If you do not share your computer with anyone else, and would prefer not to sign-in each time that you visit the site, you may check the "Remember me" box when you sign-in. When you register with one of our sites, your computer's Internet browser can remember that you have elected to do so by setting a unique cookie on your computer. (These cookies contain only numeric identifiers. They do not contain any personally identifiable information.) Merck will need to access that cookie in order to remember you when you return.
    A. If you use a networked computer, or otherwise share your computer with someone else, please remember to sign-out each time that you visit.

    B. Free offers for educational literature and related information. From time to time, Merck offers free literature, guides, tools and information on its products and the diseases and conditions that they are designed to treat. This material may be available online or offline. We may require that you provide your name and address so that we can send the information to you. We may require your e-mail address if the materials will be delivered electronically. We may also request that you provide disease- or condition-related information so that we can offer relevant and customized resources to you.

    C. E-mail programs. Merck offers several e-mail programs on its various websites. These may include prescription refill reminders, site update reminders, e-mail bulletins and newsletters. Some Merck websites also offer electronic greeting cards (e-cards) or an "e-mail this page to a friend" feature. Merck only uses the information that you provide to facilitate the delivery of the e-card or e-mail to the recipient whom you designate. Merck does not store this information on a permanent basis.

    D. Tools and Questionnaires. Some of Merck’s websites provide condition-related tools and questionnaires. Many of these collect nonpersonally identifiable information in order to provide disease assessments and related services to you. In some cases, we may also request your personally identifiable information in association with these tools and questionnaires. We only do so in cases where the provision of your personally identifiable information will enable us to provide additional benefits that you have requested. Merck collects the minimum amount of information necessary to appropriately provide these services to you.
